More than 450,o00 training hours...logged in 5 years

Tatweer spends $13m on training programmes

MANAMA, June 29, 2015

Tatweer Petroleum has invested more than $13 million in training programmes to develop its Bahraini workforce, it has emerged.

The programmes included formal external/internal courses, workshops, cross postings as well as on-the-job training, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

More than 450,000 training hours have been logged in the past five years.

Lauding the company’s training focus, Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza said it was remarkable that established just over five years ago, Tatweer has managed to sustain a high training budget and increase Bahrainisation from 60 per cent to more than 74 per cent.

In a statement issued after the minister had toured the company, Dr Mirza said this was confirmation of its commitment to providing employment and economic growth opportunities to Bahrainis.

“The investment in training is essential in order to build a workforce of young Bahrainis able to handle the new technology and enhanced oil recovery processes that Tatweer is implementing in the Bahrain Field,” he added.

Working closely with the National Institute of Industrial Training as well as Tamkeen, Tatweer said it has also developed and delivered technical training to 60 Bahrainis.

The young people have since graduated their training programmes and are employed in oil and gas operations in the Bahrain Field. - TradeArabia News Service
