Jotun launches initiative to train young Saudi talent

JEDDAH, March 18, 2015

Jotun, a leading paint manufacturer, has launched an initiative designed to turn new labour regulations into an advantage by recruiting, developing and hiring young Saudi Arabian talent.

The second Middle East, India and Africa (MEIA) Graduate Program is an extensive one-year training programme that will kick off with a full overview of Jotun’s global operations as well as a detailed accounting of the company’s manufacturing and business activities in Saudi Arabia, said a statement.

Dave Wright, managing director at Jotun Saudia, said: “We are strong believers that, as members of this community, we must lead in fueling the growth of localization in the Kingdom’s workforce.

“By bringing in sharp, young recruits, training them in the company’s operations and planting the seeds for productive and satisfying careers; it is a win-win for everyone – the recruit, the company and the society.”

“We are very keen to maintain our position in the Kingdom while continuing to invest in growing and empowering a local workforce,” said Wright.

The second phase of the programme will start in May, though many applicants have already made their way to an early registration into the programme, he said.

The programme will allow candidates to join the Jotun companies and work within the given job descriptions, moulding them into future leaders, said the statement.

Many Saudi Arabian youth who succeeded through phase one, now hold well known and good positions at Jotun. Corporate culture is also introduced to recruits through induction in Jotun’s corporate values, social responsibility initiatives and commitment to environmental protection through its global Green Steps programme. - TradeArabia News Service
