Oman Air, the national carrier of the Sultanate, has teamed up with Boeing to run a training and recruitment skills programme for graduates of the High Technical College in Muscat.

The programme aims to raise the capabilities of new graduates and give them the skills and information required to prosper in today’s job market and work environments. It targets 120 young Omani students.

The training is delivered by qualified instructors with long-term practical experience and focuses on modern learning techniques which sharpen participants’ skills, promote team spirit and the importance of team values, improve self-confidence and provide opportunities to apply newly-found skills in a practical setting.

The programme also offers special training in the field of leadership, by defining concepts and entrepreneurial behaviors that encourage participants to start their own projects.

Dr Ahmed bin Abdulmohsen Al-Ghassani, dean of High Technical College, said: “By working closely with global organisations such as Boeing to provide training for Oman’s young people, Oman Air is helping to enrich the lives and future work of students within educational institutions across the country.”

“We are very pleased that this programme is being offered to the students of the High Technical College in Muscat and the college will be following it up by arranging for students to visit the Job Fair. Here they will be able to build on their newly-acquired skills and link up with the major players in the corporate world and the job  market before moving on to suitable jobs.”

The training and recruitment skills programme continues the close relationship between Oman Air and Boeing and once again spotlights the airline’s commitment to social responsibility, the development of employment opportunities within the Sultanate and enabling Oman’s young men and women to achieve their full potential.

Dr Khalid bin Abdul Wahab Al Balushi, senior manager of Government Affairs and Sustainability at Oman Air, said:  “We are very proud of our association with Boeing and the High Technical College, and of delivering training programmes that aim to build on the achievements of the current generation of young Omanis who are currently performing well within their jobs.

“This initiative coincides with the 20th Anniversary of Oman Air’s first flight and confirms the company’s desire to increase the pace of development in Oman by strengthening practical links between the private sector and society at large. The students who take part in the programme will benefit greatly and we look forward to seeing them succeed in their chosen careers.”

The High Technical College in Muscat is one of seven technical colleges, supervised by the Oman Ministry of Manpower, that together constitute the second largest institution of higher education in Oman, with 12,000 students studying a range of programmes. – TradeArabia News Service
