Re-export activity topped the list in total bilateral trade with a value of Dh224 million, said a senior Dubai Customs official while speaking at a function to welcome a delegation from Azerbaijan headed by Shahin Bagirov, head of Azerbaijani Customs Control Dept.

Bagirov said the visit was aimed at viewing the best practices in the department and discussed means of administrative co-operation due to be signed between the two parties soon.

“The visit indicates the mutual aspiration of the two parties to foster co-operation and co-ordination especially regarding administrative co-operation with the Azerbaijani customs which is in its final stages,” remarked Ahmed Mahboub Musabih, executive director of the Clients Management division, Dubai Customs.

At the meeting, the visiting Azeri delegation viewed a visual presentation of “Mersal2” system and was briefed about protection of intellectual rights management, advancement and upgrading strategic plans, and HR programs at Dubai Customs.

According to statistics, the multi-dimensional glass insulator units topped the list of Dubai exports to Azerbaijan at 65 per cent, followed by some types of chemicals at 17 per cent and paints at 5 per cent.
