Bahrain third in Arab investment

Bahrain ranked third regionally in “exports of investments” to Arab states with $1.7 billion last year, according to a report released by the Arab Investment and Export Credit Guarantee Corporation.

Kuwait topped the list, with investments in eight Arab countries amounting to $6.1 billion, 31.9 per cent of the overall inter-Arab business. The UAE ranked second, with 26.3 per cent, or $5.1 billion of total inter-Arab investments, mainly in Saudi Arabia.

Qatar invested $1.2 billion or 6.5 per cent in five Arab countries, mainly the UAE, while Jordan invested $1.1 billion or 5.8 per cent, says the report.

Eighteen Arab countries attracted $80.7 billion worth of investments last year compared to $95 billion in 2008. – TradeArabia News Service
