Saudi Arabia launches ambitious Arts Valley project in Al Ula

RIYADH, June 28, 2022

The Royal Commission of Al-Ula (RCU) Governorate has announced the launch of Arts Valley, a major project in Al Ula  being set up in line with Saudi Arabia's vision and tourism and cultural ambitions.

Spread over a 65-sq-km area, the Arts Valley is considered a cultural asset of the 'The Journey Through Time' masterplan launched in April last year by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Deputy Prime Minister, and also the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Royal Commission of Al-Ula Governorate.

The Journey Through Time masterplan is a complex and elegant urban planning solution using innovation to maintain balance between nature, heritage, culture and sustainable development.

It is an ambitious roadmap to protect, preserve and sustainably rejuvenate Al-Ula and form the backbone of the world’s largest and oldest cultural landscape, formed from the combined works of man and nature over millennia.

Announcing the project, Noorah Al-Double, the CEO of the General Directorate for Arts and Innovative Industries, affiliated to the RCU Governorate, gave a brief presentation on the whole project and also highlighted its future and promising significance for the Kingdom's vision, tourism and culture.

Located 1,100 km from Riyadh in north-west Saudi Arabia, AlUla is a place of extraordinary natural and human heritage. The vast area, covering 22,561 sq km, includes a lush oasis valley, towering sandstone mountains and ancient cultural heritage sites dating back thousands of years.

It is aimed at developing the Al Ula governorate and transforming it into a pioneering international destination for arts, heritage, culture and nature that meet the targets of the Kingdom's vision 2030, she added.-TradeArabia News Service
