Sewa completes power connection to Khor Fakkan main grid

SHARJAH, May 6, 2021

Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (Sewa) has announced the completion of a major project linking the Shees area to the main electrical grid of Khor Fakkan through tunnels.

Following this key milestone, the operation of the 11/33 kV tunnel station will replace the diesel-generated power station in line with Sewa’s strategic plans.

Sewa is keen to develop its services and achieve stability in the electrical network and provide access to it services in all areas of the emirate under the best security and safety standards, remarked Ahmed Al Mulla, the Director of Khor Fakkan Sewa Department.

Al Mulla pointed out that the Shees area has been supplied with electricity since 1982 through a power station operated on four diesel generators. The station’s capacity was 1,220 kilowatts.

He pointed out that the generators were changed after connecting the area to the main network of Khor Fakkan.

"Operating the main electricity grid in Shees will contribute to preserving the environment, eliminating the use of liquid fuels, and reducing air and sound pollution. The operation of the electrical network will also contribute to development and tourism projects, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
