Cairo Metro Line III project on track for 2023 opening

Nearly 50 per cent of the work on the third phase of Cairo Metro Line III project, has been completed and is on schedule for opening in April 2023, reported Daily News Egypt. 
 
The key phase, being developed at an investment of E£97 billion ($6.1 billon), will run 17.7 km long covering 15 stations, stated the report citing the transport minister. 
 
Kamel El Wazir said 4 km of stations on Cairo Metro Line 3, covering the area between Attaba station and Kitkat station, will be inaugurated in December this year.
 
The second part of the third phase will run for 6.6 km from Kitkat to the Rod El Farag Axis, and is set for completion in June, while the third part will run for 7.1 km from Kitkat to Cairo University, and will be inaugurated in April 2023, he added.
 
Following the completion of the third phase, the Cairo Metro Line 3 will connect Cairo with 6th of October City and the New Administrative Capital (NAC), as well as new cities including Shorouk, Obour. and Mostakbal, said the Daily News Egypt report. 
 
A monorail in Cairo will run from Nasr City, with another set to be built in 6th of October, to ensure an even more comprehensive transport system, it added.
