Drydocks World attains accreditation to certify lifting gears

DUBAI, September 19, 2019

Drydocks World, a service provider to the marine, offshore, oil, gas and renewable energy sectors, has been authorised by Emirates International Accreditation Centre (EIAC) to conduct inspections to certify lifting equipment and gears.

Drydocks World is now certified to carry out testing, calibration and inspections, after meeting the ISO 17020 accreditation evaluation criteria and Dubai Municipality regulatory requirements.

The inspection and certification team is under the Drydocks World Quality Division, and will operate as an independent entity to ensure unbiased inspections with full integrity, a statement said.

Capt Rado Antolovic, managing director and CEO of the DP World Maritime Services Division, said:
“We are one of the few companies in the UAE with this type of certification. The new section for inspections has been established with the objective to streamline our processes and to optimise lifting assets. Our yard has a total of 18,000+ lifting equipment and gear items, and this certification will enhance both the quality and safety assurance of the yards equipment.

“We are also authorised to perform inspection for external parties, offering a new compliance service to clients. We are focused on improving our quality and management systems in the yard, and we intend to be a top provider of leading inspection services in the region,” he said. – TradeArabia News Service
