Sharjah's water production hits 37bn gallons in 2018

The amount of water produced in Sharjah during 2018, reached more than 37 billion gallons of water, according to the latest statistics issued by the Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa).
 
The statistics also revealed that the biggest share of water consumption was by the residential sector with almost 62 per cent (17.2 billion gallons) while the commercial sector consumed 24 per cent (6.7 billion gallons), said the statement from Sewa.
 
Governmental sector consumption was at nine per cent, industrial at five per cent and agricultural at 0.1 per cent. it stated.
 
Chairman Dr Rashid Al Leem said that Sewa is exerting great efforts to produce, desalinate and distribute water to consumers and is making efforts to raise awareness about the importance of water conservation and use it optimally. -TradeArabia News Service
