The Opus by Omniyat wins global design award

DUBAI, April 18, 2019

The Opus by Omniyat, located in Dubai, has been honoured with one of the top design awards, the ‘Award of Excellence’ by the Council on Tall Buildings & Urban Habitat (CTBUH). The Opus, designed by renowned Iraqi-British architect the late Dame Zaha Hadid, was chosen from a shortlist of several designs.

The Opus is an architectural wonder made of engineering at its most impressive. Located at Dubai’s Burj Khalifa district, the structure combines a variety of residences and a design hotel operated by the leading hotelier group ME by Melia Hotels International.

Peter Stephenson, executive director of development at Omniyat, received the award at the CTBUH Tall + Urban Innovation Conference in Shenzhen, China, in April.

“It is a great honour to be awarded this accolade. This award celebrates the legacy of the late Dame Zaha Hadid, who has left an important mark on UAE’s design landscape. The award is also a testament of Omniyat’s commitment to innovation and uniqueness, which has made a positive impact on our business, our industry, and the region,” said Mahdi Amjad, Omniyat’s CEO and executive chairman.

CTBUH Tall + Urban Innovation Conference explores and celebrates the very best in innovative tall buildings, urban spaces, building technologies, and construction practices from around the world. The awards aspire to provide a more comprehensive and sophisticated view of these important structures, while advocating for improvements in every aspect of performance, including those that have the greatest positive impact on the individuals who use these buildings and the cities they inhabit. –TradeArabia News Service
