Qatar completes key phase of Al Wakrah Beach

DOHA, May 13, 2018

Qatar's Public Works Authority Ashghal said it has completed the main works of the first zone of Al Wakrah Beach Development, which will be open to public this week.

The project is being developed in three zones as a leisure destination suitable for families over a 335,000-sq-m area, said a statement from Ashghal.

Work on 2,100 sq m of interlock paving for the pedestrian walkways has been completed for Zone 1. A total of 120 pergolas will be set up at Al Wakrah Beach Development to provide shaded areas for families. Currently, all the pergolas for Zone 1 have been installed, it stated.

The opening of the first zone is part of an integrated plan developed by Ashghal for the development of the corniche areas in Doha City, Al Wakrah City, Al Khor and Al Shamal, said Abdul Aziz Al Mansoori, the technical affairs manager at Al Wakrah Municipality.

The project boasts three green areas covering 25,000 sq m besides 98 solar lighting poles and 600 parking spaces spread over an area of 20,000 sq m.

The project was launched in October last year and Ashghal has been keen to open this part of the project to the public ahead of schedule, said Al Mansoori.-TradeArabia News Service
