UAE approves $75m road development projects

ABU DHABI, December 12, 2017

The UAE government has approved Dh275 million ($75 million) worth of road development works in the country including a major project linking Lahbab Road and Nizwa Road and a 470-m-long tunnel linking a major road to Al Hail in Fujairah, said a report.

The approval for these key infrastructure projects across the emirates was given by the Follow-up Committee of the Initiatives of the UAE President, reported the state news agency Wam.

This move is an implementation of the directives of President HH Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and the support of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.

The committee, headed by Ahmed Juma Al Zaabi, Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, approved the contract for the second phase of a project to construct a road between Wadi Al Qour and the road linking Lahbab Road and Nizwa Road, for a total cost of Dh269 million, said the report.

The committee also approved a consulting services contract for a project to link Al Seeji Road to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Road, for a total cost of Dh2.3 million, it stated.

The committee approved another consulting services contract for a project to construct a 470-m-long tunnel linking Al Muraishid Road to the road leading to Mohamed bin Zayed City in Al Hail, Fujairah, at a total cost of Dh3.1 million, it added.
