Top leaders at Schneider Electric summit in Dubai

DUBAI, April 11, 2017

Top industry leaders from across the region will discuss the latest technologies, trends and innovations at the fifth edition of Schneider Electric Innovation Summit which opened today in Dubai, UAE.

Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) managing director and CEO Saeed Mohamed Al Tayer inaugurated the event being held at at Atlantis the Palm Hotel. More than 2,500 visitors are expected at the two-day event.

In his inaugural address, Al Tayer said the summit has become a significant platform for the exchange of expertise and knowledge in area of innovation.

"The event ideally fits within the UAE's National Innovation Strategy, launched by Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum that is premised to turn the UAE to one of the world's most innovative countries," Al Tayer added.

"In line with the Smart Dubai Initiative launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed to render Dubai the world's happiest and smartest city, Dewa has launched many initiatives, programmes and promising projects towards this end," he added.

Al Tayer expressed pride that Dewa has become a performance-driven organisation that follows an innovation-based strategy envisaging short and long-term plans and strategies to enable the emirate of Dubai to realise the smart government of the future.

"Dewa is the first organisation to adopt sustainability as an integral part of its vision and strategic plans in line with the UN Sustainable Development 2030 Goals," Al Tayer maintained, adding that the utility firm has efficiently contributed to the World Green Economy Organisation, launched by Sheikh Mohamed in October 2016 in collaboration with the UN Development Programme as the first such international organisation specialising in areas of green economy.-TradeArabia News Service
