Lasvit to unveil landmark lighting designs at d3

PRAGUE, November 29, 2016

Lasvit, the Czech manufacturer of bespoke glass installations and award-winning collections, will be unveiling its latest bespoke creations at Dubai Design District (d3), the newest of Tecom Investments' freezone business parks in the emirate at an upcoming industry event.

The Meet d3 event, to be held from December 8 to 10 under the theme Celebrating Creativity, will see the company offer its ´Lasvit Glass Experience show’.

Commenting on the event, Leon Jakimic, founder and president of Lasvit, said: "Partnering with d3, we are very proud to unveil our two bespoke creations here at Meet d3 while offering the Lasvit Glass Experience, giving the community across the UAE the opportunity to learn about the rich heritage of Bohemian hand-blown glass."

"Working with d3, we are proud to be part of the growing art and design landscape of Dubai and bringing the design experience closer to the community," he stated.

Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, the chief operating officer of d3, said: "Lasvit has been an important part in the development of d3 and we are proud to have partnered with them to produce such wonderful installations which take centre stage in The Design Quarter."

"We’re again thrilled that they will be bringing their Glass Experience to Meet d3 for everyone to enjoy," he added.

According to him, the guest experience will not be limited to mere spectatorship, but guests will be invited to participate in glass blowing to witness the magical process of transforming raw glass into original glass objects.

Combining different approaches and glass-blowing techniques including free-hand glass blowing and mould glass blowing, visitors will be transported to the Bohemian age of craftsmanship.

As part of the Meet d3 event, Lasvit will showcase its latest dynamically-lit glass sculpture titled Intergalactic, premiered at the Downtown Design Dubai fair in October, said Jakimic.

Enhancing the visitor experience at the d3 district, Lasvit will unveil two innovative bespoke lighting sculptures which have been designed exclusively for the d3. Centered on motion and designed by Libor Sostak, the lighting sculptures have taken centre stage in the atriums of Core 4 and 6 buildings in d3.

The kinetic sculpture Pulse will adorn the atrium of d3´s Core 4 building. In line with Lasvit and d3’s shared vision of integrating architecture, light, technology and space to produce spectacular experiences, this sculpture has been manufactured to the highest standards - complementing the modern architecture of d3.

Necklace, the dynamic lighting installationm fills the atrium of d3’s Core 6 building with its sheer size of 18 m in length and 15 m in width. Necklace is one of the largest lighting sculptures ever made worldwide, with unique features, said Jakimic.

The sculpture is fully controllable remotely through an iPhone application. The individual glass elements with their reflective qualities and surface textures allow the permeation of light, enabling Necklace to showcase its chameleon-like qualities when shifting the colour scheme from cold to warm hues.

The possibility of using this glass surface as a projection screen for video reflects the utter flexibility of the sculpture’s concept, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
