Abu Dhabi approves 40 key projects in Q2

ABU DHABI, October 24, 2016

The Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) approved 40 development projects spread over a 7 million sq m area during the second quarter of 2016, up three per cent compared to the same period last year, according to a report.

The UPC also endorsed expansion of the Mayan residential project, located near Yas Links Golf Course in the UAE capital, said the state news agency Wam.

Spread over an area of 69,500 sq m, the Mayan project, which includes five state-of-the-art buildings overlooking the sea, will provide more than 500 residential unit studios, along with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

One of Mayan’s buildings has already been approved under the Pearl rating system (Estidama), which is affiliated with the council, it added.

The UPC officials said 17 projects and four masterplans will be developed on Abu Dhabi’s islands, while 12 others along with a masterplan will be built on the Abu Dhabi mainland.

The council has also given the green signal to four projects and masterplans which will be executed in Al Ain city, with another two projects in the Eastern Region.
