Experts to discuss Kuwait's $250bn projects market

KUWAIT, October 20, 2016

Senior government and business leaders will be in Kuwait for a key summit next month which will put focus on the country’s $250-billion projects market.

Now in its 12th year, The Kuwait Projects conference will be held at the Regency Hotel, Salmiya on November 28.

The event will see representatives from across the projects industry collaborate to identify key opportunities and challenges as Kuwait embarks on its new 20-year economic master plan.

The senior decision makers from Ministry of Electricity and Water, Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAAP), Public Authority for Housing Welfare and Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority will be leading talks on the country’s project sector at the upcoming conference.

Kuwait anticipates significant economic and population growth over the next two decades at a time of low oil price, said experts.

The high number of projects under way valued at over $250 billion reflects confidence in Kuwait’s government and economy to deliver its major infrastructure programme as part of its drive for economic diversification, they added.

At the conference, Mutlaq Al Sanei, the general manager of KAPP, will explain what these partnerships mean for the private sector and announce upcoming projects they can be a part of.

Joining him at the conference are Sheikh Dr Meshaal Jabar Al Ahmad, the director general, Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority; Saad Saud Muhailibi, the director of master plan department, Kuwait Municipality and president, Kuwait Society of Engineers; Andy Biffen, the chief executive of Shamal Az-Zour Al Oula and Dr Firas Raad, the country manager for Kuwait and Mena, World Bank, said the organisers.

The Kuwait Projects conference is a key event for senior government representatives to share their strategic plans and collaborate with business leaders and investors from the private sector, they added.-TradeArabia News Service
