TEHRAN, April 18, 2016

Itinera, a leader in the construction of roads, motorways, railways and bridges, has signed agreements with the Iranian government for two major railway construction projects, said a report.

This comes following a statement by an Italian official that his country was planning to invest about €4 billion ($4.47 billion) in the Iranian railway sector, reported the IRNA news agency.

In a meeting with Iran’s Republic of Iran Railways (RAI) managing director Mohsen Poursaeed-Aqaei, Renato Mazzoncini, the CEO of the Italian railway company, has announced its readiness to supply assistance to the Iranian railways for both high-speed trains, and a complete programme for training personnel, it stated.

During the meeting, Poursaeed-Aqaei introduced the country’s railroad and rail projects, and stressed on their importance, the report added.
