Falconcity of Wonders wins sustainability award

DUBAI, February 15, 2016

Falconcity of Wonders (FCW), the developer of a multipurpose mega project coming up in the UAE, said its chairman Salem Almoosa was honoured for his contributions to sustainability and the preservation of the UAE’s rich culture and heritage at the fourth International Architectural Conservation Conference and Exhibition (IACCE) held recently in Dubai.

A mammoth residential, tourist, entertainment and recreational complex, FCW is being constructed in the shape of a falcon on a 41-million-sq-ft area in honour of the UAE’s national emblem.

Almoosa, who is also the general manager of the company, was commended for supporting the responsible development and growth of the UAE and for encouraging citizens to protect local heritage as an individual duty.

Ahmad bin Salem Almoosa, the vice chairman and deputy general manager, received the award on his behalf from Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) at the event.

Falconcity of Wonders was a platinum sponsor at the event, which was held under the theme ‘Sustainable Heritage: Global Vision, Local Experiences.’

The conference gathered leading researchers, professionals, and local and international organisations to facilitate the exchange of information, experiences and knowledge on sustainability and heritage conservation.

It also recognised the exceptional efforts of individuals and organisations that have a positive impact in the preservation of the UAE’s culture and heritage.

On the win, Almoosa said: "FCW is very proud to support the conference's vision and initiatives which echo our own aspirations as well. This year’s IACCE theme, ‘Sustainable Heritage: Global Vision, Local Experiences,’ reflects the nature of FCW: although our development offers a ‘City of Wonders’ where one can experience the world in one place, it also takes great pride in the UAE’s heritage as reflected in the shape of the city itself."

"We always support events such as IACCE that foster greater collaboration on the conservation of the UAE’s heritage and the protection of its natural wealth. We would also like to commend the conference for continuing to provide a vital voice for the UAE’s sustainability and heritage conservation efforts," he added.

Falconcity of Wonders (FCW), the multipurpose mega project currently being built in Dubai, was also commended at IACCE 2016 for serving as a role model on how to sustainably preserve national culture and heritage even in major developments.-TradeArabia News Service
