Samsung wins $800m MEG plant deal from US firm

SEOUL, Korea, December 21, 2015

Samsung Engineering Co has won a contract for more than $800 million from Lotte Chemical Louisiana for a 700,000 MTPA monoethylene glycol plant (MEG) in Lake Charles Louisiana, US.
 
Samsung's subsidiary SEA Louisiana Construction will provide detail engineering and procurement and the consortium partner Chicago Bridge & Iron Company (CB&I) will provide construction for a successful execution of the project on US soil, said a statement.
 
It's contract portion is about $430 million, while CB&I’s will receive about $370 million for their services, it said.
 
Choong Heum Park, president and chief executive officer, Samsung, said: “We have previously worked with Lotte Chemical and successfully completed several MEG projects.
 
“We are looking forward to further improving our excellent relationship with them and providing the best services as possible on a long-term basis.” - TradeArabia News Service
