Aldar waterfront project on track for 2017 completion

ABU DHABI, December 10, 2015

Aldar Properties, a leading developer based in Abu Dhabi, UAE, said the construction work at its ambitious waterfront project Hadeel is progressing well and on track for completion in 2017.

Located at Al Raha Beach, the project is aimed at redefining waterfront living with a community consisting of prime apartments and villas, said a statement from Aldar.

The construction work is going as per schedule with the shoring and piling works now complete and the ground floor works set to start in the next few days, it stated.

Aldar said it is taking a destination-led approach, with much of its development pipeline being focused across its land banks at Yas Island, Al Raha Beach and Shams Abu Dhabi.

Combined, these destinations have a land area of 11 million sq m, and an approved GFA (gross floor area) of 5.9 million sq m. Each destination ensures a strong diversity of project, ranging from high density urban developments at Shams Abu Dhabi to luxury family living destinations at Al Raha Beach.

These are complemented by Yas Island which is already becoming a world-class leisure and entertainment destination.

Another major project, Ansam, the first residential development launched on Yas Island by Aldar last year, is expected to be completed in 2017. It  has benefited from strong demand for prime residential property on one of the UAE’s most iconic destinations.

On the project's progress, the Abu Dhabi developer said the casting of the raft foundation is nearing completion with strong progress on the ground and first floor slabs. The four buildings’ substructures and basements are also nearing completion.

Meera, located in Shams Abu Dhabi on Al Reem Island, is Aldar’s first mid-market focused project.

With shoring and piling contract now awarded, Meera is expected to be delivered to the market during 2018. In line with this, the project has now completed the detailed design and tender documentation phase with the main contractor expected to be appointed by March 2016.

Merief, a community of 281 residential plots targeted at the UAE national market, is scheduled for completion over the next two years.

Located within Khalifa City in Abu Dhabi, Merief will be complemented by parks, mosques and an Aldar Academies-operated school. All concept and preliminary designs have now been completed and the detailed design phase is also expected to be ready by year end.

A main contractor for the project is due to be appointed in April 2016.

Nareel Island, a masterplanned community for Emiratis located in the heart of Abu Dhabi, and comprising 148 villa plots, is scheduled for delivery in 2017.

Aldar said it was currently focusing on developing the infrastructure and public realm, both of which are in the detailed design stage, to ensure that when plot owners complete their homes, this destination will be a fully-fledged community from the outset.

The main contractor is close to being appointed, having already awarded the earthworks and marine works tender packages.

Talal Al Dhiyebi, the chief development officer at Aldar Properties, said: "We continue to see a flight to quality among purchasers in Abu Dhabi, which is driving demand for preferred locations within the emirate. This is in line with our development strategy to focus on enhancing destinations where we see demand for new developments."

"This strategy ensures that we focus on delivering the right product to the right location at the right price. Our development pipeline is strong and on track to deliver to the market some of the highest quality housing stock within the UAE starting from 2017," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
