Bahrain to award key airport expansion contracts

MANAMA, December 8, 2015

Seven major contracts signalling a key stage in the $1.1-billion Bahrain International Airport (BIA) expansion project will be awarded within the next six to eight weeks, a senior government official said.

Talking to the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication on the sidelines of the fifth Arab Aviation and Media Summit at the Art Rotana Amwaj Islands, Transportation and Telecommunications Minister Kamal Ahmed said the upcoming contracts include main works and infrastructure, piling works, passenger loading bridges, baggage handling systems, horizontal and vertical passenger transport systems, information and communications technology (ICT) and security screening equipment.
