Tenders covered....roads, sanitary and construction sectors

Bahrain awards infrastructure tenders worth $7.6m

MANAMA, May 18, 2015

Bahrain’s Works, Municipality and Urban Planning Affairs assistant under-secretary for service Ahmed Al Khayyat revealed that the ministry awarded six contracts worth BD2.89 ($7.6 million) and invited bids for 11 roads, sanitary and construction tenders worth BD4.02 million ($10.7 million) during April.

According to Al Khayyat, the contracts covered the roads, sanitary and construction sectors, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

In the roads sector, these contracts included a BD1.08 million term contract for the import and installation of safety fence for the years 2014-2016, and the BD518,445 revamp of Block 351, Road 5121 and the environs in Burhama.

In the sanitary sector, the deals covered the BD470,000 operation of the sewage treatment network, while the construction contracts included the BD660,000 maintenance of building No 6, construction of a guards room and the fencing for Shaikh Rashid Equestrian Club, and the BD104,750 import and installation of lighting, sensory mixers and solar energy control cell for the Central Informatics Organisation in Isa Town.

Tenders in the roads sector included the revamp of Hamala Block 1014, Road 1429, while those for the sanitary sector called for the installation of a main sewerage drainage line West of Budaiya (Phase Two), as part of the housing projects sewerage works.

Tenders in the construction sector included the maintenance and painting works for Al Jabriya Industrial School for Boys in Manama, Saar Secondary Girls School, and Shaikh Abdul Aziz bin Mohammed Secondary Boys School in Adliya and the supervision of construction, mechanical and electrical works and painting works at Shaikh Rashid Equestrian and Horse Race Club in Sakhir.

Al Khayyat also revealed that the ministry's Cost Engineering Directorate, represented by the Purchase Department, approved 157 purchase requests during April worth BD476,322.

The technical services sector approved two new requests as part of the contractors pre-qualification requests and renewal requests of nine contractors and suppliers. - TradeArabia News Service
