Polaschik will brief on US-Algerian relations
Algeria to invest $215bn in infrastructure
ALGIERS, April 14, 2015
Algeria is set to invest $215 billion in publicly funded infrastructure during 2015-2019, with a focus on hospital construction and renovation, transportation infrastructure, wastewater management and desalination, and ports/airports.
The largest share of this public expenditure will be allocated toward the construction of five hospitals, and the renovation of approximately 15 hospitals, said a statement.
Through its sovereign wealth fund, referred to as the Fonds de Regulation des Recettes (FRR), Algeria is well positioned to expand its robust infrastructure spending of recent years, it said.
The investments in public infrastructure will generate opportunities for US firms throughout the infrastructure supply chain.
Participants in a webchat on April 16 will hear a briefing from US Ambassador to Algeria Joan Polaschik on US - Algerian relations, and the growing Algerian government interest in US commercial engagement, said the statement.
They will provide briefings on the Algerian business climate, and the operating environment within the infrastructure sector, which will be followed by a question and answer discussion, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
