Gulf FM sector 'must shift to smart technology'

DUBAI, March 18, 2015

The facilities management (FM) sector in the Middle East region must focus on the development and implementation of automation and smart systems to become more efficient and productive, said an expert.

The use of smart technology in the FM sector will help improve efficiency, save time and cost, conserve natural resources, and minimise impact on the environment, stated Jamal Abdullah Lootah, the chief executive of Imdaad, a leading provider of integrated facilities management solutions in the GCC.

Lootah is also the president of the Middle East Facility Management Association (MefmaEFMA), which held its summit under the theme of ‘Smart Technology, Smart Cities, Smarter FM’ in Dubai, UAE, recently.

"With the GCC states driving towards a ‘smart’ city led by Dubai, the focus on the implementation of the cutting-edge products and systems has increased considerably," stated Lootah at the Mefma Confex.

"The region’s FM sector is set to utilise innovative and groundbreaking technology to support the ‘smart’ shift," he added.

Imdaad used the platform to emphasise on the use of smart technology in the FM sector to improve efficiency, save time and cost, conserve natural resources, and minimise impact on the environment.

It also stressed on the need to implement state-of-the-art technology to streamline, automate and speed up tasks in FM services.

Mefma Confex 2015 is one of the biggest events which features over 25 speakers and more than 18 exhibitors, showcasing the latest developments in the FM industry.
