Qatar set for major green building summit

DOHA, March 2, 2015

Leading academic researchers and industry practitioners including urban planners, property consultants, sustainability experts and architects from across the globe will take part in the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).

The first annual conference of QGBC will be held on April 27 and 28 at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). The organisers have already opened the online registration for the event.

Through the conference, QGBC is supporting Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development's (QF) commitment to promote sustainable best practice and infrastructure development on the nation’s journey to a knowledge-based economy as set out in the Qatar National Vision 2030.

The conference will see experts take part in a series of sessions focused on some of the leading local, regional and international sustainability debates.

QGBC director Meshal Al Shamari said the council is committed to promoting environmental sustainability in all walks of life in Qatar, with the built environment under particular focus at this first conference.

Dr Alex Amato, the head of sustainability at QGBC, said the conference will showcase outstanding research papers offering innovative and practical solutions to a number of key issues facing Qatar and the region.

“QGBC has received an overwhelming number of excellent papers and projects to be presented, and we look forward to sharing previews through our website and social media platforms in the run-up to the conference,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
