Al Khayyat .... tenders awarded for major road, sanitary and construction sectors.

Bahrain awards $39m construction tenders in January

MANAMA, February 22, 2015

Bahrain had awarded nine contracts worth BD15 million ($39 million) in January including key road and sanitary works besides inviting bids for seven major projects, said a senior official.

The Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry awarded four sanitary tenders worth BD752,886 ($1.98 million), two contracts for the construction sector worth BD138,011 ($363,321), one road tender worth BD630,983 ($1.66 million) and two other projects tenders worth BD135,245 ($356,039), stated Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat, the assistant undersecretary for technical services.

The ministry had also invited bids for two projects in the sanitary engineering sector worth BD733,650 ($1.93 million), in addition to inviting bids for another five projects in the construction sector at a cost of BD180,000 ($473,859), stated the official.

Al Khayyat said these tenders covered the roads, sanitary and construction sectors. In the roads sector, the contracts covered a BD630,983 ($1.66 million) road revamp project focusing on Blocks 304 and 311 in Manama, while the sanitary engineering sector covered a  number of sub-sewerage plants.

The ministry also called for consultancy services for the design of the main sewerage discharge line in north-east Muharraq and of the main sewerage discharge line extending from Juffair to Tubli.

In the construction sector, the tenders covered Jaw Girls School project, while the roads sector included inviting bids for the revamp of the second phase of Sheikh Hamad Highway (from roundabout 16 to Bahrain University), and consulting services for the North Manama Causeway project - Phase Two and the link causeway to Busaiteen.-TradeArabia News Service
