Qatar .... gearing up for the Fifa world cup.

Project Qatar gets overwhelming response

DOHA, December 1, 2014

Project Qatar 2015, a leading construction, technology and building materials exhibition, has received an overwhelming response from the exhibitors, six months prior to its opening in capital Doha.

The 12th International Construction Technology and Building Materials Exhibition will run from May 4 to 7, 2015 at the Qatar National Convention Centre.

The surge in number of enquiries from exhibitors ahead of opening is a testament to Qatar's construction growth and to Project Qatar's widening portfolio and sustainability, said the organisers.

Qatar is set to spend about QR255 billion ($70 billion) on the infrastructure and transport projects as well as hotels and stadiums, in the run-up to the 2022 FIFA World Cup, they stated citing a recent report by Deloitte, a management consultancy.

Boosting the construction sector further, another sports event has been recently added to the calendar of Qatar, as the country was granted the right to host the 17th IAAF World Championships, which will unfold in 2019.

According to Deloitte, the ministry of finance has allocated $24 billion for key projects, which represents a 16 per cent increase, compared to 2013-14, and translates into Qatar's largest infrastructure budget to date.

Those operating in such a dynamic market must be equally versatile.

"In this regard, Project Qatar 2015 will foster the rapid development of Qatar's booming construction sector, being among the best attended exhibitions in the GCC for over a decade," the organisers added.

Hazem Al Sharif, the general manager of ACICO, said it has been a regular participant at Project Qatar for the last seven years.

"We have benefited a lot from the show as the company was able to showcase its AAC Blocks to thousands of visitors and to emerge as a manufacturer of new building systems," he observed.

Project Qatar, he noted, was a leading exhibition because it allowed industry leaders to keep networking and update their relationships. "It also reveals through its exhibitors the latest state-of-the-art equipment and building materials on the market, and attracts high-profile engineering consultants," he added.

The exhibition, will host hundreds of distinguished industry leaders from local and regional companies; it moreover promises to attract key buyers and professionals seeking the latest technology and state-of-the art equipment.

Project Qatar 2015 will be held concurrently with two specialised events: Qatar StoneTech, the 4th International Stone and Stone Technology show, and Heavy Max, the 12th International Exhibition for Heavy Machinery.

Ashraf Al Barghuthi, the general manager of the Arabian Supply Center, another major exhibitors at the show, said: "In continuation of excelled growth efforts, ASC will be participating in Project Qatar 2015, this will be our second participation as we feel it is a great way to present our premium products in support of Qatar's numerous construction projects."

"We're looking forward to showing our customers in Project Qatar 2015 - both existing and future - the valuable products and services we can provide," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
