Mellor.. new addtition to dmg events portfolio

Gulf Glass, Gulfsol events acquired by dmg

DUBAI, October 15, 2014

The rights to organise Dubai-based Gulf Glass and GulfSol exhibitions have been acquired by dmg events, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Daily Mail and General Trust, from Bowhead Media.

The acquisition provides dmg events with a strategic position in the regional glass and solar markets and will add complementary sister events to the leading international building and construction event, The Big 5 in Dubai.

Bowhead Media has operated the biennial Gulf Glass exhibition in the Middle East for seven years and in 2013 added the GulfSol exhibition to address the growing solar power and products market in the Middle East.

Simon Mellor, president, dmg events, said: “Our acquisition of the two exhibitions is indeed a momentous occasion for the company and a welcome addition to our growing portfolio of high-profile events.  Drawing on our expertise, extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of the regional industry, we will be able to further enhance the connection between the glass and solar businesses and their target customers. Our commitment is to contribute to the continuous efforts to raise the bar for both sectors and maintain their steady expansion.”

Matt Denton, senior vice president, dmg events, said: “Glass and solar are fast growing specialist markets in the Middle East and we feel that with the knowledge, expertise and network of our The Big 5 series of events, we can take the shows to the next level. We will be able to provide a truly international forum to address the issues and support the growth of these industries in the coming years. These exhibitions join a series of new and planned events that will explore vertical aspects of our generic construction event, The Big 5, offering more targeted industry specific events that provide innovation, knowledge and insight into specific sectors of the Middle East market.”

Andy Skillen, managing director of Bowhead Media, said: “Having launched and developed these two events, we feel they are a tremendous fit with dmg who are in an excellent position to take forward and develop the shows.  We look forward to focusing on the continued growth of our publications and other activities and will continue to support the events as media partners.” - TradeArabia News Service
