Schneider Electric launches home automation system

DUBAI, October 9, 2014

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has launched U.motion, a personal lifespace management system providing secure and energy-efficient automation and control features for smart homes.

With U.Motion, all the home functions can be controlled from a central point using designed ‘touch panels’ or through any internet-enabled smartphone or mobile device. Users can monitor and regulate home functions such as lighting, temperature, curtains and blinds, CCTV and door communication. The user interface can also be individually configured for each family member.

The U.motion system serves as a security measure, keeping users connected to their intercom system, doorbell, or technical alarms in case of fires or water leakages. The system provides a clear, structured overview of all rooms and devices. The viewing panels provide a clear visualisation of room plans and monitor energy consumption, encouraging residents to practice sustainability.

Jean-Baptiste Plagne, vice president retail and eco controls, Schneider Electric, said: “Schneider Electric’s U.motion integrates the most pressing environmental and security concerns with digital convenience. Our aesthetically pleasing touch panels are easy-to-operate, enabling people on the move to stay connected.”

Plagne added: “Implementing daily measures toward energy efficiency has never been easier. The U-motion, programmed with smart metering, helps consumers keep tabs on energy usage. Schneider Electric brings the U.motion to the Middle East, keeping in mind consumers’ high expectations of convenience, comfort and safety, and the region’s commitment to sustainability.”

From a basic installation through a large server solution with numerous touch panels, U.motion is freely scalable. The touch panels are available in 7-inch, 10-inch and 15-inch screen sizes. In addition, a special version of the U.motion KNX Server Plus is integrated into the 10-inch or 15-inch touch panels. – TradeArabia News Service
