Ajman gives $571m airport green light

DUBAI, September 15, 2014

The UAE’s smallest emirate Ajman is set to develop a new international airport at an investment of Dh2.1 billion ($571 million) to help support its future plans to boost the economy and tourism, said a report.

The new Ajman International Airport is expected to handle around one million passengers a year when completed, according to WAM, the Emirates news agency.

To be constructed in the Al Manama area of the city, the airport will be an eco-friendly project in line with Ajman’s Vision 2021 development initiative.



Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, after approving the final plan, said he was impressed by the interior and exterior designs of the new airport, said the report.

The project, which will be launched in 2018, also includes arrival and departure lounges, hangars and cargo handling buildings.

To be constructed in the Al Manama area of Ajman, the airport will be an eco-friendly project in implementation of Ajman Vision 2021.
