Bahrain awards $19.5m construction tenders

Bahrain awarded nine contracts worth a total of BD7.42 million ($19.5 million) for roads, sanitary and construction work in August, besides inviting bids for seven more tenders worth an estimated BD4.09 million ($10.8 million).

The bulk of the contracts by value went to the sanitary sector with a BD4.7 million ($12.5 million) deal awarded for the rehabilitation of sewerage networks A and B (Phases 2 and 3) and a BD1.29 million ($3.42 million) contract for urgent supply and installation of sanitary pumps.

Road contracts awarded included the re-construction of Sheikh Ahmed bin Salman Avenue in Riffa Block 905 at a cost of BD409,831 ($1.09 million); the BD288,033  ($764,000) revamp of Abdul Rahman Al Dakhil Avenue in Manama Block 321; the BD193,657 ($513,679) construction of parking lots 1 and 2 along Road 13 in Tubli; and the revamp of Avenue 4201 in Ghuraifa.

Ministry of Works assistant undersecretary for technical services Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat said tenders that were issued in the roads sector included the revamp of Abu Shaheen Road, Debal and Noon in Riffa area, in addition to the revamp of East Eker Village, Blocks 623 and 624.

In the sanitary sector, bids were invited for consulting services for the design and supervision of a project aiming to reuse treated water produced at the Tubli sewage treatment plant (STP).

Al Khayyat said the procurement department at the ministry’s cost engineering directorate has approved 124 purchase orders covering various sectors at the ministry at a cost of BD240,494 ($637,915).-TradeArabia News Service
