Nakheel opens first community retail centre in Dubai

DUBAI, September 1, 2014

Nakheel, a leading Dubai-based developer, has officially opened Jumeirah Park Pavilion, the first of five community retail malls under way at Nakheel developments across Dubai, UAE.

The Jumeirah Park Pavilion, the first new project to be completed by the developer post-restructuring, is a 10,600-sq-m retail and dining facility in the heart of New Dubai, said the statement.

It features 28 shops, restaurants and cafes, including a Geant Easy supermarket as the anchor store, it said.

The centre will primarily serve residents in Nakheel’s Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Islands and Jumeirah Village communities. Other malls are under way at Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, International City, Jumeirah Islands and Badrah.

Ali Rashid Lootah, chairman, said: “This is another key milestone for Nakheel. Jumeirah Park Pavilion is a place to meet, dine and socialise as well as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for every day conveniences and facilities.

“Nakheel Pavilions are part of our commitment to enhancing and improving our communities with new services and facilities for the thousands of people who live in them.  They also promote economic, social and environmental sustainability, by creating jobs, bringing people together and cutting car use.”

The neighbourhood ‘Pavilions’ are just one element of Nakheel’s growing retail portfolio, with the company also building large-scale malls at Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands and Jumeirah Village and expanding Dragon Mart and Ibn Battuta malls, the statement added. - TradeArabia News Service
