$124m Jubail, Ras Al-Khair contracts signed

Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu (RCJY) has signed two contracts for a total value of SR467.9 million ($124.7 million), said a report.
 
Under the first contract, the Saudi Services for Electro-Mechanic Works Company will set up a station to pump drinking water and a number of tanks in the industrial city of Ras Al-Khair. The project will be completed in two years and two months, said the Arab News report.
 
The deal specifies that the contractor will prepare, filter and develop the site, construct rainwater and flood drainage system, undertake construction for collecting and transferring sewage water, distribute drinking water, and provide water for fire extinguishing and also for generating electric power. 
 
Other work specified under the contract include establishing telecommunications and internal road network, and undertaking construction for pumping and water treatment for chlorine station, generator room, Saudi Electricity Company equipment room, sub-station and guard building.
 
The second contract has been signed with the same company to develop the King Fahd Industrial Port’s power plant in Jubail industrial city and undertake design and supply for lifting power lines, said the report.
 
The scope of the work includes providing additional power lines to the sub power plant that is located in the port, including burying underground cables and strengthening the power plant effort to 115/34.5 KV, it said.
 
Some adjustments such as changing the path of the current upper transmission lines 230kV and 380 kV in Jubail 2 and replacing a set of singular insulation wires with double insulation ones will also be implemented. The work will be completed in three and a half year, it added.
