Emaar rules out plans for new tall tower

Dubai, March 14, 2014

Emaar Properties has ruled out plans to build a tower higher than the 828-metre Burj Khalifa in Dubai, a report said.

Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar also said the company will not replicate its successful Downtown Dubai model anywhere else in the emirate, the Emirates 24|7 report said.

"We will never build a tall building like this (Burj Khalifa) so Downtown will always remain the Downtown," he said in the report.

Emaar is jointly developing the multi-billion-dollar Mohammad Bin Rashid City with Meraas Holding. It will have over 100 hotel facilities and "Mall of the World", which will be the largest mall in the world.

In joint venture with Dubai World Central (DWC), the world's first purpose-built aerotropolis, the developer is building an integrated urban centre and golf destination within DWC.
