Dubai, April 25, 2010
The 10th edition of the Airport Show, one of the leading events devoted exclusively to airport construction, operations, technology and services, opened at the Airport Expo Dubai on Sunday.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, president of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and chairman of Dubai Airports, inaugurated the event in the presence of high profile figures representing leading airports from the region.
The three-day exhibition will showcase the latest technologies and advances in the airport industry from around the world, and host industry professionals who will share their expertise and insights on enhancing the operational efficiencies of airports under construction or renovation.
Ara Fernezian, group exhibition director at Reed Exhibitions Middle East, the event organisers, said the robust participation of key industry players at the Airport Show reflects the growing international interest in the industry.
He said the exhibition witnessed a seven per cent increase in the number of exhibitors, which reached 223 compared to 210 in 2009. In all, 34 countries are participating in the event, occupying a gross exhibition space of 10,508 sq m.
According to Fernezian, the number of high-profile airport officials attending the event has grown 41 per cent over last year while the number of Hosted Buyers has gone up by 42 per cent.
'This reiterates the importance of the event as unmatched strong growth platform showcasing the latest technologies and solutions of global appeal,' he noted.
'The exhibition also reaffirms Dubai’s position as a key transport and logistics hub that drives the growth of the airport sector,' Fernezian added.
France, Germany, UK, Italy, Denmark, Switzerland and China have own national pavilions at the exhibition. The Show, which continues until April 27, features specialized global, regional and local companies.-TradeArabia News Service
