Major projects ‘on track despite oil price drop’

MANAMA, November 21, 2015

Oil prices plunging to six-year lows will not affect the development of oil and gas infrastructure in Bahrain,  Energy Minister Dr Abdulhussain Mirza has said.

Addressing a panel discussion at the  Arab Petroleum Investments Corporation (Apicorp’s) Energy Forum hosted by the kingdom at the Ritz-Carlton Bahrain, Hotel and Spa, he said all major projects are on track despite price volatility and slowdown in the global economy, reported the Gulf Daily News, our sister publication.

The opening of the forum was presided over by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, who was deputised by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the patron of the event.

“Our intent can be gauged from the recent award of contracts worth around $300 million to lay a new 350,000-barrel per day (bpd) oil pipeline between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain and the upcoming award of a $400m LNG terminal contract,” Dr Mirza said.
