Harvard tops with most UHNW alumni population

NEW YORK, September 17, 2015

With 3,130 ultra wealthy individuals among its alumni, Harvard University leads the world’s schools in a Wealth-X ranking of universities with the largest ultra high net worth (UHNW) alumni population. 
 
All 10 universities on the list are located in the US, indicating that these American institutions are able to attract students from around the globe.
 
Established in 1636, Harvard is the oldest institution of higher learning in the US. It has more than 360,000 alumni around the world, according to its website.
 
Seven of the 10 schools are on the US East Coast, showing the concentration of UHNW alumni wealth in the area, said the Wealth-X report.
 
The sole West Coast institution on the list is Stanford University in California; representing the Midwest are Northwestern University and University of Chicago, both in the Chicago metropolitan area of Illinois, it said.
 
The 10 universities also include University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, New York University, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Yale Universityand Cornell University.
 
There were 211,275 UHNW individuals last year, according to the Wealth-X and UBS World Ultra Wealth Report 2014. 
 
Of the world’s total UHNW population, five per cent came from the top 10 universities, it added. - TradeArabia News Service
