Kuwait to reschedule development projects

KUWAIT CITY, August 24, 2015

Kuwait is planning to reschedule its development plan citing the deficit in its budget, according to a report.

The government is also set to reconsider its developmental projects because of the deficit that resulted from the decline in the oil prices, which has negatively impacted the country's national income, said the Arab Times report.

The move has been aimed at expediting the completion of the essential ones and suspending the others until the oil prices improve and the deficit in the budget reduces, it said.

Meanwhile, a number of major projects have been added to the country's developmental plan until 2040 including a project to develop the geographical information system.

The deal for this project is expected to be signed in September, while another project included in the plan is is for structuring the country including the population, said the report.

The plan also includes a project on smart transportation systems and a study on the pedestrian movement which will be linked to the metro project and the pedestrian bridges throughout the country, it added.
