Increased economic trade and closer bilateral relations are just some of the expectations people have of the GCC Railway network, which is scheduled for completion within three years. The 2,117km rail will pass through all six Gulf states, from Kuwait to Oman, and will have diesel-powered trains with a maximum speed of 220km per hour. A section of the project includes links between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which will comprise 28km of approach tracks, a 26km causeway and a 10km bridge, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.
