Dubai inflation hits six-year high in May

DUBAI, June 21, 2015

Dubai's annual inflation rate rose 4.7 per cent in May, its highest level since 2009, data showed on Sunday.

The housing and utility costs, which account for almost 44 per cent of consumer expenses, jumped 7.8 per cent from a year earlier in May and rose 0.7 per cent from the previous month, according to Dubai Statistics Center.

The food and beverage prices, which account for 11 per cent of the basket, rose 1.7 per cent year-on-year and three per cent month-on-month, it added.- Reuters
