Bahrain Bourse-businesswomen society in key accord

MANAMA, June 9, 2015

Bahrain Bourse (BHB) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society to boost co-operation.

This is in line with the kingdom’s celebration of Bahraini Women’s Day this year, under the theme ‘Women in the financial and banking sector,’ said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The MoU aims to contribute to enhancing joint co-operation between the Bahrain Bourse and the society in activities related to spreading investment awareness among its members.

The MoU was signed by BHB chief executive Shaikh Khalifa bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, and Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society president Ahlam Janahi.

The MoU sets the path for organising training sessions on the essentials of saving and investment and working jointly to develop the content of the sessions.

Both parties will jointly form a working committee to agree on an action plan in order to implement the mentioned objectives.

Shaikh Khalifa said that the signing of the MoU with Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society goes in line with BHB’s efforts to co-operate with different parties with the aim of developing the capital markets sector in the kingdom and spreading investment awareness among Bahrain’s community.

“The signing of the MOU will contribute to further co-operation and co-ordination between the bourse and the society in the sense that more activities and events will be organised to highlight the investment opportunities available for investors at BHB,” he said.

“We are seeking to encourage women to benefit from such opportunities so we can see a greater contribution of their daily trading at BHB, as it is in GCC bourses.

“The upcoming period will witness the launch of various initiatives and programmes that aim to increase investment awareness among all categories of citizens and residents, ensuring the bourse’s commitment to support those initiatives that will help us achieve this objective in all possible ways,” Shaikh Khalifa added.

“The signing of this MOU goes in line with developing the role of Bahraini businesswomen and one of the objectives of the society is to spread awareness on the investment sector,”  Janahi said. - TradeArabia News Service
