Association launched in Bahrain for foreign investors

MANAMA, May 12, 2015

An association that aims at enabling private investors from abroad to contribute to Bahrain’s economic development was launched yesterday (May 11).

It was unveiled under the patronage of Industry and Commerce Minister Zayed Al Zayani, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The Foreign Investors Association (FIA), an independent and non-profit organisation, comprises about 11 senior businessmen and women active in different economic sectors.

The US, the UK, India, Russia, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Egypt and Palestine are represented in the association through members and administrative board.

"The mission of the association is to promote a suitable environment that will empower private sector to effectively play its leading role in enhancing the economic and social responsibilities stimulating investments and serving the national economy," FIA president Fadi Majali said.

"Bahrain's economy has demonstrated a great ability to remain steadfast in the face of crises of different forms and causes which is a powerful incentive for foreign investors to enter the Bahraini market," he added.

The association plans to conduct specialised studies on the effects of government policies on the private sector, to communicate with the government and Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry on business regulations and their implementation and to organise business seminars and training programmes for members and investors. - TradeArabia News Service
