119 industrial projects in Jordan to get $74m finance

As many as 119 industrial and service projects in Jordan are set to receive 53.4 million Jordanian dinars ($74.9 million) in financing from the Governorate Development Fund (GDF), according to a report.
The projects will create more than 3,300 jobs when completed at an estimated 115 million Jordanian dinar investment, said the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Supply in The Jordan Times report.
Among the governorates, Karak topped the list as 14.1 million Jordanian dinar will finance 21 projects, followed by Tafileh with 3.7 million Jordanian dinars to finance 19 projects, Irbid with 13 project and 6.5 million Jordanian dinars and Maan with 13 projects and 8.4 million Jordanian dinars.
Meanwhile, the ministry signed a deal for the last phase of the European Union-funded Jordan Services Modernisation Programme run by the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation, said the report.
This phase, which includes 51 new and old service companies, carry a financing volume exceeding €3.44 million ($3.9 million), with a total expected investment reaching around €5.79 million.
These projects will create more than 450 job opportunities in Mafraq, Jerash, Ajloun, Zarqa, Madaba, Tafileh, Karak, Maan and Aqaba, due to the importance of the service sector that contributes to 67 per cent of the national gross product, it added.
