StanChart Bahrain names head of CIC

MANAMA, January 28, 2015

Standard Chartered Bank Bahrain has appointed Abdulla Abdulrazaq Bukhowa as head of corporate and institutional clients (CIC) in addition to his role as head of financial markets.

Bukhowa is the first Bahraini in this position, where he will be responsible for the overall management of the corporate, institutional, and financial markets business in Bahrain in accordance with the global business strategy, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

Standard Chartered Bahrain chief executive Hassan Amin Jarrar said the appointment was in line with the bank's corporate and institutional strategy that supported servicing of clients as well as the financing of infrastructural projects, which was one of Bahrain's main priorities for the public and private sectors.

“Abdulla has played a key role in successfully transforming Standard Chartered Bahrain's financial markets business and winning landmark transactions,” Jarrar said.

“This is especially exciting given that he is the first Bahraini to take on this position.

“Standard Chartered is the first bank in Bahrain since 1920, our corporate franchise here has grown significantly to become one of the top markets in the Middle East, in both corporate and retail segments.”

Prior to joining Standard Chartered in 2010, Bukhowa held senior management positions at the Central Bank of Bahrain most notably as head of portfolio management. - TradeArabia News Service
