DOHA, December 20, 2014

Qatar's annual inflation surged to three per cent in November amid a rise in rents and energy costs besides a jump in the food and beverage prices, according to a report.

Qatar's annual inflation hit three per cent in November, according to the data released by the country's statistics authority.

The rents and energy costs, which account for more than 32 per cent of consumer expenses, jumped 7.6 per cent from a year earlier, but rose only 0.1 per cent from the previous month.

Food, beverage and tobacco prices, which account for 13 per cent of the basket, edged up 0.1 per cent year-on-year and were flat month-on-month.

Analysts polled by Reuters in September expected the world's No.1 liquefied natural gas exporter to see average inflation of 3.5 per cent in 2014 and four per cent in 2015, after 3.1 per cent in 2013.-Reuters
