Bangladesh to host Arab-Asia summit

MANAMA, December 16, 2014

The next edition of Arab-Asia Business Partnership Summit will be hosted by Bangladesh under the patronage of Prime Minister Shaikh Hasina.

The summit will be held in association with the Partners in Population and Development (PPD), a UN affiliated intergovernmental agency consisting of health ministers from 26 countries, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

This was revealed by Bangladesh's State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Zahid Maleque during a press conference at the conclusion of the Arab-Asia Business Partnership Summit 2014 in Bahrain.

The summit to be held on November 21 and 22 next year at the Dhaka International Convention Centre, will focus on investment opportunities in health and other high potential sectors in the Arab and Asian region.

It will coincide with the 12th International Congress on Aids in Asia Pacific, one of the largest health-related scientific conference in the region, which will attract about 4,000 health professionals.

"We are eager to facilitate an insightful exchange of ideas at the conference, in line with PPD's aim to promote investments in the health sector of its 26 member countries," said PPD executive director Dr Joe Thomas.

"After the successful completion of this year's summit in Bahrain, the next in Bangladesh will hopefully serve to strengthen cross-border partnerships that have been initiated during the event and truly fulfil the goal to create opportunities for regional businesses to share insights and forge cross-border partnerships," said summit chairwoman Shaikha Noora bint Isa Al Khalifa. - TradeArabia News Service
