MoF presents e-Dirham system to diplomatic missions in UAE

46 embassies attend e-Dirham workshops

ABU DHABI, November 9, 2014

Forty-six embassies and consulates in the UAE, attended the two e-Dirham system workshops in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, UAE, recently.

The workshops were organised by the Ministry of Finance (MoF), in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD).

This event was held in order to promote a unified e-payment platform and enhance its sophisticated network to collect government resources on a regional and global level.

The workshops discussed the development stages of the e-dirham system in its first and second generation, which was launched after the Ministry’s announcement to develop an integrated system of payment software and gateways in 2001.

The system was created for collecting service fees for the federal government through pre-paid cards, which has contributed in improving the delivery of public services and rationalising the consumption of government resources in the UAE.

MoF reviewed the latest statistics of the e-Dirham system and electronic and smart services provided to users, in addition to looking at the mechanisms of e-connections to the system between ministries and local federal entities.  MoF also discussed the latest agreements on the adoption of the e-Dirham system signed by Dubai e-Government, Dubai World and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Ras Al Khaimah. – TradeArabia News Service
