New push to bolster Bahrain-Thailand trade ties

BANGKOK, October 21, 2014

Bahrain and Thailand discussed ways to enhance bilateral co-operation in the economic, trade, investment and cultural fields by activating the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between them.

They agreed to take optimum advantage of investment opportunities on offer and facilities and services they provide to expand areas of co-operation to achieve common goals, said a report in the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The two countries underlined the importance of stepping up co-operation in food security and investment in agricultural products and goods, benefiting from Thailand's expertise in this field.

They also agreed to benefit from each others' expertise.

This came as His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa held talks with his Thai counterpart Prayut Chan-o-cha in Bangkok.

They affirmed the need to co-ordinate stances towards regional and international issues of mutual concern.

They also stressed the importance of building new partnerships that strengthen Bahraini-Thai economic co-operation, and support efforts of private sectors and businessmen in both countries to launch joint projects, especially in service, industrial, production and trade sectors.

They expressed the desire to consolidate trade co-operation to promote Bahrain as a centre for Thai trade operations in the region, and Thailand as Bahrain's gateway to South-East Asian markets.

The two leaders agreed on the need to bolster co-operation in cultural, artistic and tourism fields as the best means to strengthen rapprochement between the two peoples.

They affirmed that the outstanding bilateral relations are set to grow and flourish thanks to the solid ties bonding the two countries' leaderships.

The Premier affirmed Bahrain's constant desire to build a strong model of fruitful and constructive co-operation with Thailand through the activation of agreements in investment, trade, economic and cultural fields, stressing the need to develop friendship ties with Thailand, based on solid political, economic and trade partnership bonding the two nations.

The Premier emphasised the importance of exchanging visits between officials and businessmen in the two countries to enhance co-operation.

He expressed the hope that new horizons of co-operation will be created, amid the growing number of opportunities, calling upon the private sector to benefit from those opportunities and launch partnerships.

The Thai Prime Minister lauded the role played by Prince Khalifa in developing ties with his country at all levels, and strengthening GCC-Asian ties in all fields.

He affirmed his country's desire to broaden areas of co-operation with the kingdom and open new horizons of rapprochement with it to achieve common goals. He praised HRH the Premier's initiatives and policies aiming to create new areas of co-operation between GCC countries and their East Asian counterparts, particularly Thailand, which, has strengthened Bahraini-Thai relations at all levels. - TradeArabia News Service
