Mohammed Al-Tajer, head of marketing for the Middle East & Africa at Citibank, has been appointed as the chairperson of the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Council's newly formed Middle East Advisory Board.
Al-Tajer in his new role as chairman will support and guide the CMO Council through its chapter development in the region, while serving as the primary voice of the CMO Council within the growing and expanding business center, said a CMO statement.
A seasoned marketer, Al-Tajer has been at the helm of the marketing and business development functions at Citi for the past three years.
With over 15 years of global marketing & business development experience, Al-Tajer has led some of the world's most prestigious brands and has been instrumental in setting up, developing and growing businesses across countries in EMEA, Iran, Pakistan and India.
His experience spans multiple and diverse sectors such as fast moving consumer goods, insurance, airlines, consulting and banking.
His career has been with blue chip MNCs as well as large local groups. These include companies like Unilever, Coca Cola, Wm. Wrigley Jr, Arab Insurance Group, Gulf Air and Citi apart from consulting.
He spent part of his career working abroad based in the United Kingdom, Germany and the GCC countries.
The CMO Council is actively building a regional advisory board for the Middle East region, representing the key business stakeholders and will soon announce the new members of the board.
The advisory board will convene for an inaugural meeting in Dubai on October 12 to kick off CMO Summit Middle East, a partner event between the CMO Council and ARTAAJ, the statement added.
Al-Tajer will deliver a keynote presentation and Donovan Neale-May, executive director of the CMO Council, will moderate a panel discussion: MENA: Global Marketer Intentions & Expectations in the Region - Addressing the Complexities & Opportunities in an Emerging Market'.
Fellow CMO Council members,Elie Daher, Marketing Director of Schlumberger Middle East, and Noah Chancellor, Senior Advisor, Strategic Marketing of Saudi Telecom, will join Neale-May on the panel.
The CMO Council is dedicated to high-level knowledge exchange, thought leadership and personal relationship building among senior corporate marketing leaders and brand decision-makers across a wide-range of global industries.
